After chasing his two younger brothers into an abandoned fun house, Chris Powell found his dad being paid off by some of Phillipe Bazin's men. While running away, Chris stumbled upon a mysterious amulet, and while holding it he wished that he had the power to trash Bazin's guys. Then *poof*, he immediately turned into DarkHawk. After he defeated the thugs, Chris vowed that he would use his new found powers for justice. Later on he got a few pointers from Spider-Man (along with some enemies), and occasionally teamed up with the New Warriors.
