He was born as Kal-El, on the planet Krypton where his father was that
world’s greatest scientist. When his father, Jor-El, realized that their
world was doomed, he placed his son in a lone spaceship and sent it to
Earth. There, the boy was found by a kind elderly couple, the Kents, who
named him Clark, and raised him as if he were their own son. As the boy
grew, he developed extraordinary powers: super-strength, X-ray vision, the
ability to fly, and more. When he sheds his identity of Clark Kent, he
becomes Superman: The Man of Steel. This title continues to bring readers
the adventures of the world’s best-known super-hero. These intertwine
with the stories contained in Superman (2nd Series), Action Comics, and
Adventures of Superman. To keep things straight, each issue features a
triangle-number on the cover showing the sequence of the stories.
